As you're aware, Ostomies are a serious problem affecting the
lives of numerous individuals in our community and around the world. The Bayonne Ostomy Alliance (BOA) recently launched its 2014 - 2015 "Ostomy Awareness" fundraising drive, and
I'm writing to ask for your support.
From visiting one-on-one with people in medical centers, at their homes, publishing a newsletter and teaming up with other local organizations. I
have learned, misinformation and fear prevent thousands of people with Colon Cancer, Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's disease from having life-saving surgery.
My name is Larry Pilarski and I founded the Bayonne Ostomy Alliance in September 2005 to address the emotional needs of people who have had or need Ostomies. Our organization strives to help people manage side effects, in addition to, dispelling fears and shining a positive light on a procedure that has saved so many lives.
Every year, large numbers of people with Cancer, Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitus refuse life saving surgery because it would result in an Ostomy (a bowel or bladder diversion). It's our hope, if those people can see what life with an Ostomy actually means, we can break the silence and bring awareness to this issue so they'll not shy away from those surgeries.
BOA is asking for donations from generous individuals like yourself to increase public awareness of Ostomy surgery, to dispel patient's fears, but most importantly, to call attention to the positive quality of life attainable after surgery.
Our goal this year is $1500. Any amount you are able to share brings us closer to our goal, helps break the silence of ignorance and shines a positive light on what has saved so many lives. Won't you Please make your contribution to the "Ostomy Awareness" Campaign. Today.
